TOPIC 2: HOW TO BUILD A PERSONAL COMPUTER (PC)

Computers have become part of our daily lives.We visit shops, offices and places of scenic beauty with the help of computers.We read newspapers , magazines and can even learn foreign languages on computers. People formerly bought a preconfigured computer because they think it is very difficult to build but now it is becoming popular to build one. Have you ever thought about building your own computer?In this topic, I would like to share with you the process of building personal computer.
Before starting this process, we make sure that all the mandatory parts are present. We must have a motherboard, processor, ram, video card, case, power suply, hard drive, keyboard, mouse and speaker.It is best to work on a grounded surface that non-metallic to prevent the loss of parts due to static electricity. The first step in building a computer is to add processor and ram to the motherboard.First, we unwrap the motherboard and the microprocessor chip.The chip will have one marked corner that aligns with another marked of its socket on the motherboard. Align the corners and drop the microprocessor into the socket.Second, we install the heat sink. We put it in place, cinch it down with flanges on either side and lock it with a cam.Then we connect the power lead for the heat sink to the motherboard.Finally, we install the RAM.We look on the motherboard for the slot marked and press the RAM module into it .Each side of the module should also have a rotating arm that will lock the RAM down.Now our motherboard is ready to put in the case.
The second step in this process is to put motherboard and power suply in to the case. At first, we add motherboard into the case. Motherboard should have come with a face plate for its back connector. The case already has a hole cut in it for the plate, so we put in the plate and press it until it clicks into place.Now we can put in the motherboard, we will use spacers which are also included with the motherboard.Then we take th motherboard back out, place the spacers and put the motherboard in on top of them. The motherboard lines up with the faceplate and the holes line up with the spacers.Next, we install power supply in the case.The power supply has two side. The fan side faces outside the case and wires face inside.Slide the power supply onto its brackets and secure it with srews.We connect the power leads to the motherboard. There will be an obvious conector for the motherboard and small four pin conector give power to CPU. Both connectors will have obvious ports , we use manual to connect remaining wires. Finally, we find where to connect each wire using the manual and connect case fan using available wires from power supply.
The last step in this process is install hard disk and CD drive.The case has removeable bracket with four rubber gromments on it,which line up with four holes on the hard drive.First, screw the hard drive in to the bracket, then put the bracket back into its slot in the case.After that, we connect the hard disk to the power using one of the connectors coming of the power supply.Second, we install the cables.Look on the motherboard and hook the cabl into the IDE connector marked , insert the other end of the cable on the back of the drive.Now the drive is ready to go.Finally, we install CD drive we align red stripe with pin one and connect CD drive audio with supplied cable.
In short, the construction of a computer is not as difficult of a task as once thought.We can build it easily, it does not take us along time to build.Moreover, we can save money and it is a lot of fun ,too.
